ABOUT ME

Yan Chung, L.

Born in Malaysia, and raised in Singapore, where I am currently taking my bachelor in business administration at the National University of Singapore.

I grew up as a digital native, playing computer games on the internet was my favourite pastime, but really it was about playing together with friends that made it so addictive. I was extremely fond of strategy games, my first RTS was Age of Empires, followed by Starcraft II. Even now, I sometimes enjoy a game of Teamfight Tactics in my free time.

My love for tech took me to Ngee Ann Polytechnic, where I started a diploma in Financial Informatics, a bit of a mix between IT and finance. I picked up numerous skillsets ranging from data analytics -> web development. It was also during this time when I first ventured overseas for the first time to Bangkok, Thailand, where I did a web development internship. Life-changing, it definitely was, and it changed my worldview a 360 degrees.

I followed the thread that was entrepreneurship, and I found myself at NUS, applying for the NOC programme, this time to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. At RED2Digital, I worked closely with my vietnamese colleagues on regional projects spanning across search engine marketing campaigns, budget threshold reporting and even developed an entire playbook series on digital marketing. However, it was really about the experience working with my colleagues that made the whole experience much more meaningful, from learning about their culture to visiting their homes, I began to find myself loving the Vietnamese culture.

I continued my journey in NUS as a finance student in my second year, picking up various project management skills along my journey as Vice-President of NUS Entrepreneurship Society. We managed to organize multiple startathons (hackathons for startups) and even a tech conference, raising over $75k to support our organization's initatives. One particularly memorable moment, was when I stepped in to emcee for CatalystxAI's pitching day. I prepared my script maybe about ~6 hours before the start of the event, and even went off-script multiple times in the moment.

Today, I'm working in a small AI Cybersecurity startup. If you can't find me, I'm probably at some event networking, writing my next article or learning how to cook.

Thank you, for making it this far.
